Last Call is the first level of Prey and serves as a prologue to the game.
Synopsis
A normal night at the bar for Tommy, his girlfriend, and his grandfather turns into a nightmare as they're abducted by hostile aliens.
Storyline
Tommy begins in the bathroom of the Roadhouse bar where he talks to himself in the mirror stating that he wants to take Jen out of their Native American reservation in Oklahoma. He leaves the bathroom after Jen calls for him, but meets his grandfather, Enisi, who warns him of a danger he feels is coming. Ignoring his grandfather, Tommy goes to the bar where Jen is serving Chuck & Dalton who grow increasingly provocative towards her, demanding more drinks. Eventually, a fight breaks out in which Tommy knocks Chuck & Dalton unconscious with his wrench. Suddenly, they are abducted by an unknown vessel and transported to the Sphere.
Trivia
- Tommy can play with all the slot machines in the Roadhouse bar's casino section, interact with TV, and even choose a licensed song from the jukebox.
- The TV plays two classic films: Duck and Cover, a civil defense movie, and Killers from Space, a movie widely credited with spawning the alien abduction craze.
- The song "(Don't Fear) the Reaper" by Blue Öyster Cult starts to play automatically when the abduction begins.
- This is the first level where hunters are seen but unable to be fought.
- A fully playable Pac-Man-style game in the casino called Rune Man refers to a previous game by Human Head Studios called Rune.
- The start of the level bares some similarities to the intro of Silent Hill 2. Both games begin with the protagonist in the bathroom looking at the mirror after washing their faces.
