Copy Protection is a side quest in Prey (2017).
Overview
Copy Protection is activated when Morgan Yu attempts to fabricate more than five Neuromods across all Fabricators on Talos I, given they hadn't already visited Halden Graves' office in the Neuromod Division. The Fabricators will display an error message when the Neuromod is selected until this quest is completed.
Upon receiving this error message, Morgan will receive a Transcribe call from Alex Yu explaining what likely happened to the Neuromod's fabrication license. Halden Graves, a Neuromod engineer who knew about the Typhon, was so horrified at his discovery that Neuromods were derived from Typhon genetic material that he rescinded the Neuromod fabrication license, before dying in an attempt to forcibly remove his own Neuromods.
The quest is completed when the player visits Graves' computer and resets the Neuromod license.
In-Game Description
Lead Neuromod engineer Halden Graves revoked all Neuromod fabrication licenses. I need to find his office and figure out how to reset the licenses if I ever want to make another Neuromod
Objectives
- Find Halden Graves office
- Reset the licenses for the Neuromod fabrication plans
Walkthrough
Find Halden Graves Office
Halden Graves' office is in the Neuromod Division Fabrication Area. The first time you go, you’ll have to get to it through the Volunteer Quarters. There will be a Technopath and several Corrupted Operators patrolling the Fabrication room. Halden Graves’ office is on the second floor in the back left corner of Fabrication.
Reset the licenses for the Neuromod fabrication plans
Inside Halden Graves’ office, there’s a greater mimic waiting for you. Destroy it, loot Graves’ corpse, and go to his computer. Navigate to Utilities > Neuromod Licenses. After a few moments, the Neuromod license will be reset. You’re now free to craft as many Neuromods as you like.
